Machine Sewing Classes

Ready to start your sewing journey? Whether you’re 5 or 95, our Machine Sewing classes are the perfect place to dive in! We know that a sewing machine can look a little intimidating at first, so we’ve designed these classes specifically for people who have never even touched one before, as well as those with limited experience who want to build more confidence. We’ll take it slow and steady, guiding you through the basics in a relaxed, friendly environment. You are welcome to use our machines or bring your own. Check out current class offerings below.

Ages 5 years old-Adult (Ages 7 and under must have an adult stay to assist unless you have already taken a class with Kyla and she approves the student working independently)

Machine Sewing-Alterations Series-Learn to Shorten or Lengthen Straps

Designed for complete beginners! Clothes fit every body differently, and this class empowers you to customize your own wardrobe.

What to bring: A variety of shirts, tank tops or dresses with straps you wish to shorten or lengthen. Bringing different styles and fabrics ensures the best options as you choose which of the five featured techniques to practice:

• Shorten straps permanently

• Shorten straps with potential to lengthen later

• Re-anchor straps for a different fit

• Add fabric to lengthen straps

• Add hidden elastic to straps in improve fit

You will learn the mechanics behind all five methods, though class time typically allows for the completion of two alterations depending on skill and challenges of garment chosen. Want to transform more of your clothes? You are welcome to sign up for multiple sessions!
